Audi, along with its fellow German automakers, has upheld the gold standard for interior build quality, and this is best represented by the A8. The cabin is exquisite and there's a level of solidity that cars costing twice as much can't hope to match. Sadly, it's not perfect. The large slab of piano black trim which spans the width of the dashboard feels disappointingly plasticky and isn't something we'd expect from the automaker.
There are plenty of delightful touches to distract from this, though. The air vents, for example, are shielded by decorative inlays and reveal themselves when the vehicle is switched on. Gimmicks aside, there are plenty of toys and features to enjoy as well. The dual screens [with haptic feedback] aren't quite as intuitive as Audi's old rotary knob controller but, we have to admit, it's one of the better modern-day setups available.
Comfort is top-notch. The leather-upholstered seats are both plush and supportive. What's more, the front pews boast 22-way power adjustment that allows occupants of all shapes to dial in their ideal seating position. The specification is generous, as you'd expect from a pricey executive like this. All 2022 A8s ship standard with heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control, Audi's virtual cockpit, and a panoramic sunroof, to name a few features.

Seating and Interior Space
Audi's A8 has space for up to five occupants seated across two rows. Even the most hard-to-please tycoon will have to concede that the cabin is vast. Once aboard
[climbing in and out of the Audi is a cinch], passengers will revel in the spacious cabin. There is 38.3 inches of legroom and a very impressive 41.5 inches of headroom up front.
Passengers may even fight each other for the privilege of sitting in the second row. The first-class rear quarters are even more spacious, thanks to 38.5 inches of headroom and 44.3 inches of legroom. The A8 is perfectly capable of ferrying five people about, but don't expect the middle rear passenger to be happy with their seat. With three people in the back, those relegated to the middle pew will struggle to appreciate the luxurious ride and soft leather - it can feel a touch cramped. Curiously, the A8 is no longer available with the Executive Rear Seat package that does away with the middle seat and provides occupants with an even more premium experience.

Interior Colors and Materials
A total of six upholstery choices are available for the Audi A8. Valetta leather is a no-cost option and can be specified in either black or Sarder Brown. For an extra $3,250, Audi will trim the innards with Valcona leather [part of the Comfort Plus package] which is available in the aforementioned colors, Cognac Brown and Pearl Grey.
However, opting for the pricier upholstery requires the fitment of the $3,400 Executive package, bringing the total price up to $6,650. Regardless of the chosen leather and upholstery color, the A8 receives black carpeting and a Crystal Silver headliner, although a black finish is available at no extra cost. Audi's microfiber Dynamica upholstery can also be specified for the headliner.
The classy Natural Dark Brown Walnut inlays inject some old-world charm into the tech-laden cabin but can be switched out for Eucalyptus Gray Brown or Ash Gray Brown interior trim instead. For a truly top-class experience, Audi also offers an extended leather option as part of the $5,400 Luxury package.
2023 A8 Trunk and Cargo Space
The 2022 A8 has a disappointingly small trunk for a car of its size. Luxury sedans aren't known for their cargo-hauling capabilities, but the A8's measly 12.5 cubic feet of packing space is soundly thrashed by the Lexus LS, which offers up 16.95 cubes. Still, there's sufficient space for the bi-weekly grocery run and the A8 will happily swallow two suitcases for an impromptu weekend getaway. The netted storage section and grocery hooks add further convenience, but we weren't impressed with the high loading sill.
As with most sedans in this class, the rear bench doesn't fold down but Audi does provide occupants with a variety of in-car storage options. The glovebox is decently sized and is supplemented by a handy central storage bin. There are four cupholders in the cabin and, if they're not big enough, the door bins can hold larger bottles of water.

2023 A8 Infotainment and Features
Features
As you would expect from an $86,500 luxury sedan, the Audi A8 is packed full of luxury and convenience features. On the luxury front, occupants can look forward to four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and LED interior lighting. Those seated up front are treated to 22-way power-adjustable front seats that are
not only heated and ventilated but feature a memory setting too.
If second-row passengers feel left out, perhaps they can take solace in the standard power rear window and rear side window sunshades, which afford more privacy. On the convenience front, Audi includes a power trunk lid and soft-close doors as part of the A8's comprehensive suite of features. You'll also find heated power exterior mirrors with auto-dimming form part of the impressive specs.
There is plenty of standard safety kit; Audi equips the sole A8 model with cruise control, pre sense basic, pre sense front, lane-departure warning, and a handy 360-degree top-view camera system. The virtual cockpit is also standard. If you're willing to spend more, the German carmaker will happily sell you several packages, including numerous luxuries like rear-seat heating and adaptive cruise control.
Infotainment
At first glance, the Audi A8's twin-screen
setup can be intimidating. But fear not; the big German has a very intuitive setup. The smaller 8.6-inch screen is used for climate control settings while the centrally-positioned 10.1-inch touchscreen takes care of the vehicle's infotainment settings.
The haptic feedback makes using the touchscreens far easier, although we're guessing most owners would prefer traditional buttons. At least the display is crisp and ships standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an onboard navigation system, and Bluetooth connectivity. Two USB outlets can be found up front, along with a wireless charging pad and signal booster. The 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system is an excellent addition and offers a crisp-sounding audio experience. Lastly, Audi also includes a three-month trial subscription for SiriusXM Satellite Radio and a six-month trial to Audi connect Prime and Plus.
