Kat von d studded lipstick review năm 2024

Hey everyone! Today I have a review of the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lovecraft. I got a mini size as part of a Sephora set and though I've swatched a lot of the lipsticks in store, I hadn't gotten a chance to really try one.

The shade range for this lipstick is massive, thirty nine different shades in typical and atypical colors [including a navy and seafood green]. Lovecraft is more a typical color, described as a "matte mauve pink nude". It's like a dusty pinky mauve, a color I find surprisingly flattering on my skin.

Kat Von D makes some pretty lofty claims about the formula but does it live up to the hype?Click through to read my review and see my swatch.

Lovecraft [$21.00 for oz, available at Kat Von D and Sephora] comes in a gorgeous black studded lipstick tube [like the name implies!]. I do believe that the Studded Kiss Lipstick line is vegan.

Formula:

Kat Von D says "Drench your lips with bold color and unstoppable femininity...this revolutionary lipstick is formulated with Color Cushion Technology™, which combines lasting-wear, one-swipe payoff, and velvet-touch comfort. This color-true lipstick leaves lips supple..."

Kat Von D says it's long lasting [apparently they used to claim 10 hour wear but I don't see that mentioned anymore], pigmented with one-swipe, and comfortable on the lips leaving them supple and flexible.

Unfortunately I do think the formula promises a lot more than it can deliver. For Lovecraft specifically, it's semi opaque in one swipe and requires a few passes before it's fully opaque. The formula is on the drier side and multiple passes help warm it up to apply more smoothly on the lips.

When it comes to wear time, I can get about six hours of wear but the formula is one of the ones that wears off unevenly from the middle of the lips but more specifically, it starts to "crumble" off. I do wish it wore more evenly on the lips for longer. I do find the formula to be drying, which isn't surprising since it's matte.

Swatch:

The lipstick was photographed in natural indirect daylight with no flash.

Conclusion:

Though a gorgeous color, the formula does leave a little bit to be desired. If you don't mind needing to recheck/reapply after a few hours then you may like Lovecraft but personally I'm a little lukewarm about the formula. I know that Kat Von D is releasing a liquid lipstick version of Lovecraft so that might be something for me to look into to get better longevity from this kind of shade!

Do you have any of the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks? What do you think of the color?

The Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick range contains 40 shades in 3 finishes: satin-matte, glimmer, and metallic. One of the shades, “White Out”, is a pure-white mixer and can be used to create customized shades. The entire range is vegan, and each lipstick costs $19. I received the shade Cathedral, which is a satin-matte coco rose.

I received a little pamphlet that shows the other colors in the range. There are a lot of shades! I just wish there were more blue lipsticks. I adore a blue lip, and it would be nice to see a cerulean, a sky blue, a midnight blue, or maybe an electric blue. I understand blue isn’t a traditional lipstick color, but it would be nice to have more options besides navy [Poe]. That being said, I can see about 15 shades that I want in my lipstick collection RIGHT NOW!

I usually don’t pay much attention to lipstick boxes, but this one was quite cute! It had little studs embedded in the cardboard, and it was embossed with a gorgeous Gothic font.

The shade color and name was on top of the box.

The lipstick tube is also studded, and it looks quite unique. I appreciate that it stands out from all my other lipsticks!

The top is embossed with the Kat Von D logo.

Look at how gorgeous this lipstick is! It looks lighter and rosier than the color shown on the box, but it applies much darker.

Here is Cathedral, swatched on my hand. This went on opaque in one swipe, and it had a gorgeously creamy feel!

Here is Cathedral, swatched on my lips. HOLY smokes, this formula is incredible. It is so creamy and cushiony, and it just makes my lips feel amazingly plush. I did notice that it feathered a little bit near my Cupid’s Bow. I would recommend using a lip liner with these lipsticks if you want a precise line.

I worked the Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick into my makeup of the day. I kept the rest of my makeup light and simple, and let my lips steal the show.

Okay, let’s talk about what I loved about the Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick, and what wasn’t so great. First of all, I love how creamy the formula is! It felt like a dream, and I could definitely justify paying $19 for this product. I also thought the shade Cathedral was gorgeous. I didn’t like that it feathered into my Cupid’s Bow, but using a little lip liner is an easy fix. I also wasn’t too keen on the smell. If you guys have been following me for a while, you know I’m a bit weird about the way makeup smells.

I found that it was quite long-lasting! I applied it around noon, and it lasted until 4:00 p.m. It probably would have lasted even longer, but I ate a snack and needed to reapply afterwards.

Overall, I really loved the Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick, and I would like to add some more of the shades to my collection. Let me know if you try one out for yourself! I hope you found this review helpful. 🙂
