Penn State Schedule 2023

The Big Ten football schedule for 2023 was announced on Wednesday.

Penn State will begin the season with two straight non-conference home games against West Virginia [Sept. 2] and Delaware [Sept. 9]. Big Ten play will open with Illinois on the road on Sept. 16. Penn State will host Iowa [Sept. 23], prior to traveling to Northwestern on Sept. 30.

The Nittany Lions will then host Massachusetts [Oct. 14] for the team’s final non-conference matchup of 2023, followed by an away contest against Ohio State [Oct. 21]. Penn State will be home against Indiana [Oct. 28] and travel to Maryland on Nov. 4. The program will round out its Big Ten schedule with Michigan [Nov. 11] and Rutgers [Nov. 18] at home, prior to a road contest with Michigan State on [Nov. 25].

The Big Ten Championship Game will be held on Dec. 2 at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis.

Big Ten’s East and West divisions are here to stay despite speculation, per The Athletic. East and West divisions may be scrapped when USC and UCLA join the conference in 2024. The league announced in August that a new media deal was reached with CBS, FOX and NBC that will last until the 2029-30 season. CBS will televise seven conference games in 2023 and will increase to 15 in 2024.

Times of each game will be announced throughout next season.

Another Big Ten schedule release, which means it’ll be another season where Penn State will open its Big Ten schedule on the road.

The Big Ten released Penn State’s full 2023 season schedule, which includes a season-opening match against West Virginia at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, September 2. One week after taking on Delaware at home the following week on September 9, the Nittany Lions will travel to Illinois to open its conference slate on the road for the 13th time out of the last 14 seasons.

The blue and white will then return home for a grudge match with Iowa at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, September 23. Perhaps, it could be a bit of a revenge game after the team’s heartbreaking 23-20 loss in Kinnick Stadium last season. After the Hawkeyes, the Nittany Lions will head to Evanston, Illinois for a game against Northwestern on September 30, followed by the team’s bye week on the week of October 7.

Interestingly, Penn State will face UMass coming off its bye week on Saturday, October 14. That matchup was originally scheduled for Saturday, November 11.

The next week will most likely be Penn State’s biggest game of the season, as it travels to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State on October 21. Penn State will then return home for a game against Indiana and then head to Maryland in the following two Saturdays.

After coming home from Maryland, Michigan will come back to Beaver Stadium on November 11. Something to note here is the fact that the Big Ten doesn’t schedule night games after October 31, which means that if this game could potentially be the White Out, there’s almost a certain chance it’ll be during the day.

Penn State will then wrap up its home schedule with a game against Rutgers on November 18 before traveling to East Lansing for a season-closing game against Michigan State.

The Big Ten Championship game will take place in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, December 2.
