Who is the best person to marry in story of seasons?

When Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town released in Japan, we were already thinking about the marriage candidates. The original Mineral Town provided us several series favorite bachelors and bachelorettes. The new remakes have even added in two new characters that you can eventually marry.

These characters and fun storylines and romance events made players love the iconic Gameboy Advance game even more. Now we can enjoy Mineral Town with upgraded graphics that include redesigns some of our favorite characters. We have taken a look at the romance options new and old to determine who the best romance options in the upcoming remake are.

Updated December 20, 2020, By Helen Ashcroft: Now Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town has been in our hands for a while we've had a chance to fully explore the game and see the updates for ourselves. Many characters look a little different, the world is more detailed and there are also some new marriage candidates.

This list has been updated to reflect the name changes some characters have had, as well as to add the rest of the marriage candidates. The total number of bachelors and bachelorettes you can marry has now been raised to 12 townspeople and four secret options. The game also allows same-sex marriages so you now have more choice than ever before.

16/16 Doctor

As strange as it is, this bachelor's name really is just Doctor. Regardless of his parents named him for his future or not, he is a hard-working man who cares for Mineral Town. While this character seems to be too into his work for a relationship, if you spend enough time with him, the love will blossom. Just be sure to visit him at the clinic as he works six days a week.

Some of the Doctor's favorite gifts are apples and tomatoes to reflect his healthy nature. The Doctor works in the clinic with Elli, who he can eventually date.

15/16 Rick

Rick is responsible and sincere but he can get very angry, especially if anyone tries to get close to his sister, Popuri. He is the head of PoPoultry, taking over after his dad fled and his mom became sick.

He loves a hot spring egg and can usually be found around the farm. While he can be overbearing at times it does come from a place of love.

14/16 Kappa

Kappa resides in the mountain lake but unlike the Harvest Goddess, you'll need to make a few offerings before he appears, and he's very particular. You'll need to keep throwing cucumbers into the lake to tempt him out.

Once again this is a long-haul task, not being achieveable before year five, and at this point, the other marriage candidates start to pair off so make sure it's what you really want.

13/16 Harvest Goddess

It's a huge challenge to marry the Harvest Goddess but it can be done. If you choose to follow this path then make sure you start finding gifts for her. It's also worth remembering that her birthday is on Spring eight (or nine, if yours in eight) gifts on this day are more appreciated.

You can also fulfill tasks to help the process but it won't happen until after year five, so be prepared to be in this for the long haul.

12/16 Gray

Gray is angry and originally from the city, making him new to a more rural lifestyle. He came to the country to learn the ways of blacksmithing from his grandpa, but all the work seems to do is make him more stressed. Getting to know Gray involves peeling back the layers of his grumpy exterior to learn about the carrying heart underneath.

If you like guys that are rough around the edges, then you're sure to fall in love with Gray's storyline. Like most romance options on the list, Gray has an interest in another bachelorette named Mary.

11/16 Huang

Huang is a traveling merchant who takes up residence in Zack's home. You can buy things from him and eventually sell them as well. While he's most known as the person who will buy Van's favorite, he is actually also a bachelor.

It will take time to unlock interactions with him but giving him gifts of gold or other minerals goes a long way.

10/16 Marie

Marie is a shy girl who is an only child. She spends most of her time at the library where she works and doesn't have many friends. Her love interest Gray is one of the few people she is close with and is currently assisting her with writing a novel. Her greatest wish is for more people in Mineral Town to frequent the library and read the books she spends most of her time caring for.

If you want to get to know the shy young girl, then visit the library with gifts in hand. Marie loves to be given vegetable lattes and relaxation tea.

9/16 Brandon

Brandon is the new bachelor added to the game for its remake. He lives at the construction shop in town. Despite how lazy Brandon seems to be, he is actually a top tier artist who is married to his work. He doesn't venture out in town much and can often be found mulling over his latest masterpiece. While Brandon is silent at first talking to him daily and giving him gifts can slowly help him warm up to you.

If you can find it in your heart to spend time learning about Brandon, then you may be able to eventually end up marrying him.

8/16 Karen

Karen is a woman who lives with her parents in Mineral Town. She is a romantic who likes the simple things in life like long walks on the beach. When she's not being a romantic, she can be found in drinking competitions at the local inn. Her questlines will often revolve around her parents and friendship with Duke. Most of the time, the player will find themselves in the middle of strange discussions or requests for her heart events.

Many quests will even involve you helping her out with her love for alcohol. If you don't date Karen, then she will develop a romantic interest in Rick.

7/16 Elly

As mentioned above, Elly works as the Doctor's assistant and cares for the villagers around her. When not working, she can be found at home taking care of her little brother and grandma. She is a kind-hearted woman who is often busy and often spends time trying to drop hints to Doctor about her romantic feelings towards him.

To win Elly over, you will have to give her gifts every day and make sure to talk with her frequently. Elly loves to receive items like moon dumplings and hot milk that will increase her heart meter quickly.

6/16 Bon Vivant

You'll only find Bon Vivant around once a year, when he comes to judge the cooking exhibition. Romancing him is not a task for the fainthearted as you won't see him at any other time.

If you do choose to romance him then Elli leaves are the key to his heart, as well as some good old fashioned home cooking like Apple Pie, Carbonara, and Eggs benedict.

5/16 Cliff

Cliff is a troubled soul who came to Mineral Town looking for the reasons for his existence. He is an anti-social bachelor who can often be found hiding in the local church and will only venture out at night to visit the local inn. Cliff loves to be given gifts of food, and some of his favorite items are pizza and pancakes.

Cliff's romance path will see him getting a job at the local winery. If the player doesn't act fast, though, he will start to develop a relationship with Ann.

4/16 Jennifer

Jennifer is an interesting addition to the Friends of Mineral Town cast. Much like Gray, she came from the city to start a new life. Instead of settling down in town or living in the inn, though, she brought a tent. Jennifer can be found living in the mountains, and upon meeting her, you will learn that she is a bit of a free spirit.

While Jennifer prefers to do things as she feels they are necessary, spending time with this new bachelorette can get her warmed up to the idea of having a relationship with you.

3/16 Kai

Kai is one of the most tricky characters to get close to. This is because Kai will only come to Mineral Town during the summer. When he does come to town, he opens up the seaside shack, where you can find him working most days. It should be noted that Kai is quite lazier than the player character and wants to indulge in a more laid back lifestyle.

It can take quite some time to romance Kai and even giving him his favorite items may not feel his heart meter quick enough. If your willing to wait through multiple seasons, though, you can make him your husband.

2/16 Popuri

Popuri is one of the happiest looking characters in Mineral Town. She lives with her brother Rick and helps to care for her ill mother. Popuri's personality is extremely bubbly, and she doesn't seem to grasp a lot of complicated concepts. She loves sweets and can be gifted ice cream or cake to raise her heart meter quickly.

Popuri is great for anyone who wants a sweet storyline about a gentle girl. Be warned though, if you don't act fast enough, then she will end up with Kai, who she has a crush on from the time you meet her.

1/16 Ran

Ran is a waitress, cook, and maid who works at her father's Inn. She's a tomboy, which frustrates her father, Dudley, as he thinks it will harm her chances of finding love. Despite him pushing her to get married, the pair do get on well and became especially close after Ran's mother passed away.

She's very cheerful, friendly, and loves to cook. The hardworking waitress also loves cheese fondue, cheese risotto, and pancakes. What else could you want from a partner?
