2023 Toyota Venza LE

Toyota Venza is one of those vehicles that appeals to customers right from the start. From the moment it relaunched in the United States for the 2021 model year, it was a hit with buyers.

Perhaps it is that luxury and “Lexus-like” styling. Maybe it is the incredibly comfortable seats and smooth ride quality. It could be the wealth of technology and safety.

I own a 2021 Venza Limited and I love mine.

But what comes next? Time to look at what is new for 2023 Venza.

2023 Toyota Venza Release Date

2023 Toyota Venza LE

Look for a strong showing from 2023 Venza in the form of new technology and safety features. The current plan is for new Venza shipments to arrive beginning around November of this year.

With the ongoing worldwide vehicle shortage, it will be difficult to predict the volume and exact timeline for Venza 2023, but this is the schedule for now.

2023 Venza New Multimedia

All new 2023 Venza trim levels are the proud recipients of the new Toyota Audio Multimedia system. You will like the faster processing times, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, advanced capabilities, and easy-to-use voice command abilities and possibilities.

The Venza LE will have 8-inch multimedia screens, while XLE and Limited come with 12.3-inch screens. I am unsure what size screen the new Toyota Venza Nightshade trim will come with.

Speaking of Venza Nightshade…

A fourth trim level for 2023 Venza, Nightshade, gives potential buyers another choice. It will come in Ruby Flare Pearl, Wind Chill Pearl, and Black.

Look for 19-inch gloss black, multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. Also, you will find gloss black rocker panels, shark fin antenna, side mirrors, front grille accents, and badging.

Other 2023 Toyota Venza Changes

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard on all four trim levels.

Multi-information displays will be modernized and supersized as well. Most trims will carry 7-inch displays, but Limited will have a fully digital 12.3-inch information display. You can even switch up the look based on casual, smart, tough, and sporty themes.

Qi wireless charging is moving to its fourth-generation version.

Finally, connectivity has changed too. One USB-A port and two USB-C ports should help passengers be as connected as possible.

Price: The 2023 Toyota Venza is a 2-row hybrid crossover with a starting price of around $33,000 for the base trim, and roughly $40,000 for a fully loaded model.

The 2023 Toyota Venza will continue to woo SUV shoppers more interested in on-road comfort and a quiet cabin, versus any perceived off-road capability and macho-looking exterior design.

Reintroduced to the Toyota range for the 2021 model year, changes for the 2023 Venza are likely to include color and trim reshufflings, and possibly the addition of a special edition model, similar to the Bronze Edition version of the midsize 3-row Highlander SUV.

This should keep this 5-passenger crossover SUV fresh as it competes against rivals like the Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Escape, and Kia Sorento.

Just don’t expect Toyota to add its popular off-road-themed TRD nameplate onto the Venza anytime soon — this SUV aims to please with premium cabin materials and a whisper-quiet ride, not by scrambling over boulders.

Emphasizing this point is the Venza’s hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors and a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The total output of 219 horsepower is enough to get the all-wheel-drive ’23 Venza down the road with ease, though it’s not what anyone would call quick. It is economical, however, with an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in city driving and 37 mpg on the highway.

While the ride easily absorbs bumpy pavement and potholes, the Venza’s handling trails a number of rivals in terms of sheer agility. To its credit, if a relaxing driving experience is what you want most in a fuel-sipping crossover, the Venza carves out a unique niche for itself.

In terms of design and the quality of the materials used in the Venza cabin, this crossover could very easily be a product from Toyota’s Lexus division. The hefty amount of standard comfort and safety features makes the Venza something of a value, even if its base price is initially higher than a number of direct competitors.

The standard 8-inch infotainment system is easy to use and comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, four USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. A larger 12.3-inch screen is optional, though its reliance on more touch-screen controls could have some Venza shoppers sticking with the standard infotainment system.

2023 Toyota Venza Pricing

We expect the 2023 Toyota Venza hybrid crossover SUV to have an estimated starting price of $33,000.

This is for the surprisingly well-equipped base Venza LE, which comes with a lengthy lineup of standard features. These include many active safety items, including automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and more.

The more upmarket XLE and Limited trims will be priced at approximately $37,000 and $40,000, respectively. The Limited comes with just about every available feature fitted as standard, such as leather seating, heated and cooled front seats, a JBL audio system, and the larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen.

KBB Vehicle Review and Rating Methodology

Our Expert Ratings come from hours of both driving and number crunching to make sure that you choose the best car for you. We comprehensively experience and analyze every new SUV, car, truck, or minivan for sale in the U.S. and compare it to its competitors. When all that dust settles, we have our ratings.

We require new ratings every time an all-new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes out. Additionally, we reassess those ratings when a new-generation vehicle receives a mid-cycle refresh — basically, sprucing up a car in the middle of its product cycle (typically, around the 2-3 years mark) with a minor facelift, often with updates to features and technology.

Rather than pulling random numbers out of the air or off some meaningless checklist, KBB’s editors rank a vehicle to where it belongs in its class. Before any car earns its KBB rating, it must prove itself to be better (or worse) than the other cars it’s competing against as it tries to get you to spend your money buying or leasing.

Our editors drive and live with a given vehicle. We ask all the right questions about the interior, the exterior, the engine and powertrain, the ride and handling, the features, the comfort, and of course, about the price. Does it serve the purpose for which it was built? (Whether that purpose is commuting efficiently to and from work in the city, keeping your family safe, making you feel like you’ve made it to the top — or that you’re on your way — or making you feel like you’ve finally found just the right partner for your lifestyle.)

We take each vehicle we test through the mundane — parking, lane-changing, backing up, cargo space and loading — as well as the essential — acceleration, braking, handling, interior quiet and comfort, build quality, materials quality, reliability.
