Từ nối linking words là những từ có nhiệm vụ liên kết các mệnh đề các câu, ý trong một đoạn văn để tạo ra quan hệ logic, sự mạch lạc trôi chảy dễ hiểu. Có vô vàn từ nối, liên từ trong tiếng anh dưới các hình thức từ loại khác nhau thậm chí có thể là đại từ quan hệ, trạng từ. Cách dùng, vị trí từ nối cũng rất đa dạng khi đầu câu khi giữa, khi cuối câu, nhìn chung bạn chỉ có thể nắm bắt dần chứ không có bất kì quy tắc nào cả: chẳng hạn trạng từ thì có thể đứng ngay sau động từ, đầu câu hoặc cuối câu.
