We will cut straight to the chase! We’re thrilled that the 2023 Mazda CX-50 features a touchscreen infotainment system. However, if you like the rotary dial, don’t worry. It still controls a majority of functions.

To access touchscreen functions you need to be using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Plus, Wireless Apple CarPlay comes standard. The other systems still require using the rotary dial, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

It’s easy to learn how to turn the dial and select different menus. However, it feels like extra steps are involved to flip through different settings and options. Now you’ll at least be able to tap the screen for your music, podcasts, and navigation.

What other tech comes with the 2023 Mazda CX-50?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 comes with a standard 8.8-inch full-color center console display. Higher trim levels than the 2.5 S of the base model feature a 10.25-inch display with HD radio. The systems are powered by the Mazda Connect infotainment system.

Along with a push-button start, you also get a 7.0-inch TFT LCD instrument panel display. According to Kelley Blue Book, you need to move up to the 2.5 S Premium Plus trim to access the head-up display.

Optional convenience features include a one-touch power-sliding panoramic moonroof, a power liftgate, heated seats, heated mirrors, and windshield wipers, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charging pad, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive LED headlights.

You can upgrade from the standard eight-speaker audio system to a 12-speaker Bose audio system that includes a three-month subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio.

Can the new CX-50 go off-roading?

Yes, the 2023 Mazda CX-50 is ready to tackle the trails. This SUV features a higher ground clearance and beefier tires 18-inch all-terrain tires for off-roading. It can go further than other Mazda SUVs but has a stiff ride as a result.

All-wheel drive comes standard, and the strut front suspension is paired with a torsion-beam rear axle. The I-Activ AWD system can predict when wheelspin will occur to take almost instant action to send power where it’s needed most.

The Mi-Drive system, or intelligent Drive Select, lets the driver choose between Normal, Sport, and Off-Road driving settings. The Mazda CX-50 will continue moving forward even with the front, and rear wheels are off the ground.

Take advantage of the roof rack, wider door openings, and water-resistant interior to store all of your gear. The CX-50 is also a bit larger than the Mazda CX-5 to provide more passenger and cargo space.

There’s a lot more to be excited about than just the touch screen. The CX-50 is larger, more capable of off-roading, features new tech such as a panoramic moonroof, and includes all of the sporty Mazda attributes that fans love. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel.
