We asked you to, kindly, refrain from singing and dancing and to be extremely measured and purposeful when you socialized. We gave you a nod via small rectangles with tinned sound and constantly reminded you: turn on your camera; you’re on mute.
Welcome back Class of 2024! Now, let’s make the nod become a fist-bump or a handshake and the stare from afar become an embrace. So, here’s a big – albeit digital – embrace to you 2024! An invitation to you, only you [not your friend from another college who doesn’t even go here; not your long-lost relative who happens to be in town; and not even your BU crush who is about to graduate and not in the Class of 2024], and only for you. A weekend for you.
Have your stylist pull something for you, and come through drippin’ at these events:
A Gathering, Red Carpet and All
Friday, Sept. 17, 9 PM
It’s a GSU [remember, that means the George Sherman Union] takeover – The Class of 2024 walks the red carpet for a night to celebrate each other. A night to be with your people, converse, dance and gather together. Be prepared for food, SWAG, photography, a live DJ and more.
The Terrier Open Mini Golf Tournament
Saturday, Sept 18, 1-3 PM
Put together a group of four, wear your golf attire and don’t worry because we have the golf balls. New Balance Field is your home for The Terrier Open – the Class of 2024’s mini golf tournament. Don’t worry – we have the beverage cart covered and each hole will be sponsored with giveaways. If your team is in the top three you win prizes. And, even if you aren’t limber enough for mini-golf, there’s also music and food for spectator and a decent afternoon hang.
OH YES, it’s 80’s Night! Skating/Dance Party
Saturday, Sept. 18, 8 PM
Wear your freshest 80’s outfit and we have the skates. Agganis Arena is all yours. A live DJ and the full rink to show off your rad moves. And, if you aren’t ready to skate, there’s plenty of ‘80’s music, dancing, food, games, and pries for another decent hang.
Night at the Museum
Sunday, Sept. 19, 7 PM
We have the whole Museum of Science solely for the Class of 2024 to explore! Buses will leave from the GSU, 775 Comm Avenue, in front of Warren Towers and on Babcock Street [up at West Campus] and will run continuously the whole night. It’s a must see for the City of Boston.
If you show up, be sure to bring your green badge, Terrier ID, and a face covering or mask [for indoor activities]. This is a chance for you to meet and see each other – in person – beyond your screens – see if you can fit these moments into your schedule.
Please RSVP below.
Much Love, 2024,
Kenneth Elmore
