Dear Doctors and PhD students in neuroscience and related subjects, I am an MSc student -Applied Neuroscience online MSc programme at KCL-. I have identified two main gaps in this research, one quantitative and one qualitative. Starting with the qualitative gap would help me proceeding faster I suppose But, I am certainly keen to listen to more experienced advice. I will certainly provide further information about everything to whomever wishes to guide me through this process. Thanks in advance for your time. Kind regards, M Tauro Relevant answer Nam Nam

How do experts teach concepts they know TOO well? Question 4 answers
Listening to Richard Feynman's 1985 book "Surely you're joking Mr Feynman" it became quite clear the number of instances he understood things easily that his colleagues and other very respected scientists could not, was so overwhelming it even baffled him. He stated it's as if people don't know what they know and their method for understanding seems rote. Failure before success gives people the advantage of understanding things better. But if you're born great, you don't really have to think too hard, it just makes sense. My question is, how can someone like Feyman explain or teach concepts when it's difficult to imagine not knowing? Relevant answer Tunde Paul Aderoju

Why, despite many years of listening to radio waves from space, no other civilizations of intelligent beings have been discovered in space? Question 32 answers
Why in spite of the many years of listening to radio waves emitted from various parts of the cosmos, did not there appear such, which would mean the possibility of existence in another cosmos of intelligent creatures? For several dozen years, various astronomical programs have been running radio-frequency listening programs of various emission ranges to diagnose those that could be a testimony that somewhere in another constellation there is or has existed the civilization of other intelligent beings. However, up to now, it has not been possible to diagnose such waves that could confirm the existence of other intelligent beings in the cosmos and thus other, developed forms of life. Why has not it worked so far? Why in spite of the many years of listening to radio waves emitted from various parts of the cosmos, did not there appear such, which would mean the possibility of existence in another cosmos of intelligent creatures? Please, answer, comments. I invite you to the discussion.

What is the best Headphone for Acoustic research for speech intelligibility? Question 3 answers
I am spending research funds for a listening study for speech intelligibility under different acoustical and noise conditions. I have equipment for binaural recordings, but need a recommendation for what brand and make of Headphones and headphone amplifier. Listening will be done in a quiet room so Noise Cancellation may not be needed, and may disable it if there because of distortion. Over-the-ear headphone style. I have heard that Sennheiser is the best brand handphone. One in particular is the Sennheiser 800S Headphones ($1700) and HDV 820 Headphone Amplifier ($2400). Online solution for listeners to ortographically transcribe sentences? Question 4 answers
Hi! I'm looking for an online platform/solution that allows me to create a form where the respondents can listen to audio files and then type what they have heard right below the audio file. Preferably, I'd be able to export all the answers to an Excel file. I tried JotForms, but the only audio files I could insert were SoundCloud links, which is not good at all as they have to be public to work. This is for my thesis, which investigates the effects of an ASR-based application on the intelligibility of Brazilian speakers of English. Thank you! In what languages can 'hear/listen' also mean 'be effective'? Question 5 answers
In both Japanese and Korean, the verbs meaning 'hear/listen' is homophonous with the verb meaning 'be effective/work' as in 'The medicine works' or (having castigated someone) 'That worked'. Because this same situation obtains in two (not closely related) languages, I assume that there must be some semantic linkage between these two semantic notions, and I would therefore expect to see the two notions being represented by the same word in some other languages. Do you know of any other languages where the word for 'hear/listen' also means 'be effective'? Relevant answer Jood Aldhfyan
How can I run a repeated measures regression? Question 2 answers
I'm doing a research in linguistics. the study is on synthetic speech rate, the participants (30) listened to the speech rate at 4 levels (sentences in normal rate, then accelerated at 10%, then 20%,then 30%) each level had 5 recordings which the participants had to evaluate it's speed at 7 point Likert scale. the aim of the study is to find out if individuals perceive the normal speech rate as slow or not? also what speed rate would they perceive as the "most normal"? I figured it's a repeated measures since the same participant will listen to all 4 speeds "levels?" of the stimuli. but I couldn't figure out how to run it or how to organize the data in SPSS please find attached the SPSS file
