When can you buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Discussion Starter · #1 · 7 mo ago

I am a person who will be purchasing their first Hyundai.

I was approached by a dealership asking if I wanted to pre-order a 2023 Palisade. I have been told by another dealership that Hyundai isn't taking pre-orders for the 2023 Palisade yet.

In reading posts about the Hyundai allocation process I see different responses stating dealerships can place orders with Hyundai while other responses state dealerships can't place factory orders directly and that Hyundai just sends them an allocation of built units independent of what people want on a pre-order.

Which is it???
If I place a pre-order will I actually get on a build list with the factory or is it just a queue with that particular dealership for once they receive an allocation of built units from Hyundai??

TIA

My understanding is the latter. I don’t believe US dealers can actually place any “orders” for palisades, believe everything is operating on allocation basis at this point.

By putting a deposit down you are essentially establishing your preference with a dealer and putting yourself on a list so that when they receive an allocation with your preferences (or near them) you have a crack at it before other customers.

We have done this recently, but it’s a 2022 /premium we are scheduled to receive late May. Paid deposit and that’s it. MSRP but they did add 1200 in dealer add ins which works for me.

This is what 3 dealers in NJ told me as well.

All of them are doing above MSRP for even the 2022 models, so I'm hesitant to put a deposit with any of them (yet).

Has anyone tried ordering from Hyundai website or does that just put you with the dealer nearest you. I seem to recall they you can do everything including arranging financing from Hyundai website. Direct purchase for MSRP with obligatory pick up at the dealer is would be best way to go.

That said I heard Ford is striving to make all their cars direct sales sort of though you still have to go to dealer and pick it up but basically you just pay MSRP and that's the end of it. I believe they have done this already with their EVs.

All that said my advice in general is if you're going to buy during these crazy times. Hyundai does let you at the very least browse specific inventory at each dealer in a radius from your home. Then Phone shop in as small a radius from your home as possible and be explicit that you willing to buy now and ask for a copy of the pre sale invoice you will be paying for coming to the dealership. The reason for this is dealers like to sprint surprises on your if you do not settle up in advance. I had to buy in May of 2021. Ended up doing slightly over MSRP and because I did not get the pre sales invoice i was not aware they had pre printed on their sales invoices a $995 Dealer fee. My wife threatened to walk out and they cut it 1/2. Considering the market a reasonable deal to say the least.

When can you buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

I was thinking about buying a Hyundai Palisade but because the dealerships all want to add an additional $3000 to $5000 markup on them I think I’ll just past on them right now I checked with a Toyota dealership and their not marking up prices, that’s the first thing you see on their website so I might go that route, Highlander are nice and with the markup Hyundai dealers are doing, just about the same price.

Refuse to pay markups like I did. I got mine in 2 weeks.
