The phone is a good product, smooth at touch and well designed. Weight is average and seems to be a good choice for a teenager girl as it is intended.

Overall the ONLY thing I am disappointed with is the vibrant color when you have vivid colors active. If you choose to have Natural colors active, whites will have this warm yellowish color to it, and Vivid mode corrects that allowing you to see whites, but the colors are just a bit too vibrant although honestly you get use to it after about a week. I WISH you could adjust the vibrancy some in the advanced settings when choosing between Natural or Vivid mode, but its a useless setting that doesn't even work so not entirely sure why the advanced setting for white balancing even exist. Other than that minor grip, it's a good value for the price. The finger print reader can be a little bit of a hit and miss, however I have it where the animation for the fingerprint reader is disabled and that seemed to make it a lot more accurate and unlocks the phone the first time it reads my fingerprint. The speakers aren't the best, obviously for the price, and kind of sound a bit worse than the Moto G Power 2021 I recently had, but the bluetooth works SO much better than it did on my Moto phone, and connects so quick. The screen brightness I will say is another disappointment, as you can just barely see the phone being on if you're in direct sunlight, so if looking at your phone during the day outside is a MUST for you, you should look for a different phone with higher nit brightness as from what I've found, this phone can only do around 1200, and honestly it seems lower than that. The 120hz is a tad buggy, but if you disable all animations in developer options, it can make things a bit snappier if you plan on using the 120hz and I haven't seen any issues using 120hz after disabling all transition animations in the developer options. If I could compare this to a recent Samsung phone I had, I would say it's a bit better than the S9 I had, so probably on par with the S10 more than likely. If you're looking to have a new Samsung phone having just about everything you can find on a Samsung phone and don't want to spend more than $500, than I would go with this, however like I mentioned above about the brightness, if that's important to you, I would look towards spending over $500 to get one of the Samsung phones that can be more viewable in the sunlight.

Overall, this is a great Samsung phone that offers a smooth user experience.

Pros:
- It's fast.
- The screen resolution and refresh rate are excellent.
- Smooth experience streaming videos. Great sound quality.
- Fingerprint sensor works very well.
- Battery life is great - easily lasts more than a day (I usually charge it every 2-3 days).
- Excellent storage capacity.
- Takes clear and sharp photos and videos.
- Great phone call quality.
- Love the fact that it will receive 5 years of security updates, which is very important these days.

Cons:
- As with ALL Samsung smartphones, there is A LOT of proprietary bloatware (I previously owned a Pixel and iPhone, both of which contained very little bloatware). I was able to uninstall a few bloatware apps and disable others. For the apps I couldn't disable, I denied them the ability to run in the background and restricted battery access, if possible. This helps to extend the daily battery life for up to 2-3 days.
- I found it annoying that Samsung has its own redundant app store to Google Play and has proprietary apps that ask the user to create a Samsung account. Seems unnecessary when the phone runs on Google's Android system.
- During one of the system updates, I noticed that it snuck in 3 background Meta (i.e., formerly Facebook) apps, which cannot be uninstalled (I don't have Facebook or Instagram apps on my phone that require those background Meta apps). They can only be disabled.
- No travel adapter included. Amazon got the description wrong about what's included in the box.
- No wireless charging, but not a big deal for me.

Overall, this is a great phone for the value despite the bloatware. For users unaccustomed to Samsung, if you spend some time customizing the permissions and notifications for the bloatware apps, you'll likely enjoy using the phone, too.

10/11/2022 Update:
- Phone continues to work well for my average user needs, e.g, talk, text, web surfing, streaming, reading ebooks/newspapers/magazines, using Google Pay/Maps/Drive/Docs/Sheets/Notes and other productivity apps, etc.
- Battery life continues to be excellent, as I've ensured that most apps (other than the communication apps) do not use background data and have restricted battery access. If you don't make those adjustments, they would drain any big battery quickly.
- I like the default Device Care app that helps to further optimize the battery life and puts to sleep apps that haven't been used in a while.
- Taking screen-prints is not straightforward, as I had to research online on how to do so. There's no app/icon for it. I have to push the Down button and Power button (located on the same side) simultaneously to print the screen. Not the most convenient.
- I can't opine on the dual sim or SD memory card features, as I don't use them.

First the size of this phone is significantly larger than my Google Pixel 2 or 4a, but it's far from being the largest phone on the market today. For use by an elderly parent with diminished eyesight the large screen size is a benefit. Attached a PopSocket to make it easier to hold and carry.

Setup was quite simple, transferring files from a Moto x4 was a bit more difficult and took several attempts, including (not mentioned in instructions) specifically downloading Samsung's data migration app to the Moto, but once that was done everything transferred nicely.

Have only had it for about two months and got the first monthly security update for it which is great (when I personally owned a Galaxy S3 circa 2013, updates were very few and very far between).

Device is quick and generally works well. Installed Google's own Phone app instead of Samsung's due to familiarity and known spam call blocking features in Google's Phone app. The in-screen fingerprint reader is good but in my opinion not great. My Pixel phones have the rear dedicated fingerprint sensor which works first time every time, while this Samsung Galaxy A53 takes a second or so to recognize and confirm fingerprint, and lets me in about two out of every three tries. Have it setup with a PIN as well, as a backup just in case.

Overall it was a good buy and is a great phone for the price I paid (under $400 US at the time).
