No mountable file systems mac Reddit

Hi, Idk anything about mac because it's a temporary system for me and Im trying to install a cisco packet tracer dmg file.. When I open it it returns the error in the title and I feel like Ive tried everything. I didnt get the file from the official cisco website, but from "computer networking notes.com". What I've tried:

  • mounting via a tool called "isumsoft bitlocker reader"

  • mounting via terminal with the command "hdiutil attach -verbose "

  • checked my file system type and it returned hfs This is a really old computer and my mac osx version is 10.9.5. I tried redownloading the dmg, downloading other versions etc. Please help!

I’m trying to install Ubuntu on my 2020 Mac Air for my software engineering class and it keeps giving me the message “no mountable file systems”.

Steps I’ve tried using to fix: -used different browers: Google chrome and Safari -restarted and updated my laptop -in terminal I tried “hdiutil attach ‘Ubuntu download’— this one also prints out, “no mountable file systems.

I was able to install Virtualbox fine and was able to to get it going.

What game(s) are you trying to download? If it tells you there are no mountable filesystems, then that means either a) the game isn't built for macOS (unlikely since it's a DMG), or b) the game is too old for current macOS. Also, run this command in the Terminal: hdiutil imageinfo and paste the results below.

not sure if I found a bug in Big Sur 11.6.5 or what's going on...

have been getting a "no mountable file systems" message past few days when both trying to create a new dmg file in Disk Utility and opening existing ones.

restarting the computer seems to get it working again. but that's a major hassle, having to reopen everything that's up on my system.

wasn't doing this before a few days ago. had upgraded to 11.6.5 a few weeks ago and can't account for anything else that would've made any differences.

anyone been experiencing the same and know a permanent solution besides the reboot workaround?
