Some of you might be surprised to know that I’ve never been very fond of Hada-Labo. The budget skincare brand is a lot more popular outside of Japan than within and its products are mostly “one-trick ponies”. There is nothing necessarily wrong with having just one “trick”, but they never quite seem to hit the mark for me. Lotions are underwhelming at best, moisturisers are sticky, and cleansing products leave a residue behind.

But I do like this. I feel that the Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion ticks a couple of nice boxes. It features tranexamic acid and dipotassium glycyrrhizate, which are the Shirojyun Premium line’s active ingredients. It also has a blend of 2 molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, an anti-inflammatory form of vitamin C (MAP), and vitamin E.

There is a common misconception that this product (and other J-beauty products with tranexamic acid) helps fade discolourations. It won’t and it doesn’t claim to do so. UV exposure causes inflammatory responses that lead to the skin producing more pigment. Reducing skin inflammation helps prevent the onset of hyperpigmentation, which is what this does. It helps prevent the future development of dark spots.

The water-light lotion gives a quick moisture-fixing without tackiness and a spot of soothing action thanks to a hefty dose of anti-inflammatory agents. Once it’s absorbed, it’s as though the step never even happened. There’s no sticky residue or added complication. It helps get skin on the right track towards a smooth and evenly toned complexion.

I’d say that the Whitening Lotion would suit just about all skin types. It’s particularly good for oilier skin and warmer weather since it’s virtually weightless. It plays well and doesn’t interfere with anything I layer over. There is also Premium Whitening Lotion Rich, which as the name implies, has a rich texture. I find it sticky for my normal skin but it might be something drier skin appreciate.

Hada-Labo Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion is around ¥700–800 in stores in Japan. It’s about the price on Amazon Japan as well. You can also find it online for US$15–20 from online retailers such as Stylevana and YesStyle.

I have tried almost all of Hada Labo lotion and i can say for sure this one is the best for dehydrated skin. It's very watery and get absorbed immediately on my skin. I've only been using this for 5 days but I can say that it helps to even out skin tone as well.

Serum ligero y agradable, es muy líquido y dura bastante. También de ácido tranexámico es el SkinCeuticals discoloration defense serum salvo que este último tiene HEPES, un ingrediente en el que no todos se ponen de acuerdo, y Niacinamida. Hada Labo no tiene en el suyo estas dos cosas, solo el tranexámico en emulsión (que se supone que es la manera en la que puede ser activo en la piel) y derivados de vitamina C y E y ácido hialurónico de bajo peso (nano). Hay que usar una hidratante encima para evitar que el hialurónico robe agua de la propia piel y la reseque.

Ordered 3 of Rohto products the blue, white and red bottles All are similar in texture (not sure about the red bottle as amazon gave me a refund due to it never arriving)

The texture is very light imagine thick water that's had a drop of oil added to it (although its not oily ! very very subtle nice texture

I bought the white for standard hydrating and this blue for the vitamins the acids it includes To treat old scars from acne blemishes etc as I go brown very very easily in the sun most people envy this but I tan too quickly.

Its very light and doesn't sting around the eyes It's not heavy either as these product's are new to me I'm impressed so far I believe The red bottle is for anti aging contains collagen and elastin for firmness

J'utilise cette lotion à l'acide tranexamique depuis plus de 4ans sur le visage/cou/chest 3 matins par semaine. Elle sent bon, a une texture légère et douce, elle pénètre parfaitement. Je la mets après mon toner du matin et avant mon essence du fait de sa légèreté. Seul point négatif elle a mis plus d'un mois à me parvenir. Un mois du Japon puis quelques jours de plus à cause du Covid-19. J'ai échangé avec le vendeur de ces produits qui est juste adorable, patient, gentil et me proposait directement de lui même un remboursement si je ne recevais pas mes produits cette semaine. Reçus ce midi donc parfait. Je recommande la gamme Shirojyun à 100%, la basique à l'arbutine mais davantage la Premium à l'acide tranexamique. Attention aux peaux sensibles, ce principe actif est très costaud. Je le supporte sans souci du fait de ma peau en kevlar. En bref conquise avec en plus comme toujours la petite attention en plus : deux petits cignes faits en papier. J'adore.

化粧水の後に付けてますがあまりベタつかず保湿力もあります。ボトル式なので直接乳液に触れないのが良いです。ただ乾燥肌にはもう少し保湿があってもいいかもです。

Einziges Manko ist, dass die Lotion sehr wässrig ist. Hier zahlt es sich aus, das Gel oder wenigstens die Milky Lotion zu nehmen.

Does Hada Labo actually work?

I tried this with my Clarisonic and I thought it worked very nicely. It's fragrance free, and definitely got the job done. I didn't feel any extra moisture being locked in, but it did take off my makeup and cleanse my skin well without making it feel stripped of moisture.
