Yamaha 2023 boat lineup

The 2023 Yamaha 222FSH

Yamaha has announced big changes for 2023, most notably an all-new series of 22-foot boats, a new 222FSH centre console, and an innovative low speed maneuvering system known as DRiVE-X.

The new 22-foot platform will include four different variations- the 222SD, 222S, AR220, and SX220. Each version is 9" longer, 4" wider, 2" higher at the helm, and 4" higher at the bow than previous Yamaha platforms to create more freeboard, a deeper cockpit, a larger bow, and a more comfortable ride.

The 220 models will be available with Yamaha TR-1® HO marine engines, while the 222 variations will have 1.8L Yamaha HO marine engines. All variations will have the Connext® helm control system and wireless charging on the portside console.

The SX220 and AR220 will be value-minded versions, while the 222S and 222SD will be more feature-rich with braoder options including premium wake editions (222XE and 222XD).

The 222SD and 222XD models will also feature the industry-first and only low-speed handling function called DRiVE. DRiVE allows the operator to maneuver forward and aft precisely in tight confines while keeping their hands on the steering wheel. The system uses two paddles on either side of the steering wheel for the drive to access and offers four modes aside from the low-speed maneuvering of the paddles- Lateral Mode (for direct sideways movement), Pivot Mode (when enabled, turn the steering wheel more than 85% for a tight rotation), Dock Hold (side thrust will hold the boat against the dock), and High Mode (when enabled, RPMs are increased for added thrust). To cancel any mode, press any button or operate the remote-control lever to regain full control.

For 2023, DRiVE X is available exclusively on the Yamaha flagship 275SDX.

The minimalistic helm design of the 22-foot platform features a 12.3-inch multi-colour Connext touchscreen, DRiVE control, GPS mapping, and relevant boat system data when underway. The result is user-friendly driving and convenient access to the touchscreen when on the move.

On the left side of the helm is an intuitively placed joystick for accessing Connext when underway. Located at the base of the joystick knob are buttons to activate Yamaha's Cruise Assist™ and No Wake Mode.

The new 222FSH will serve as the fishing-focused option of the 2023 lineup, and will feature a host of high-quality fishing amenities. The 222FSH will be available with twin 4-cylinder, 4-stroke, 1.8 Litre High Output Yamaha engines up to 360 horsepower, as well as a 9" Simrad® multi-function display, a 5" Connext® touchscreen, and wireless charging. The new platform will also have a fibreglass-moulded T-Top with four "rocket launcher" rod holders, a glass windshield, stainless steel sports steering wheel, and a locking glove box.

Other standard fishing features include storage for eight rods under the gunwales, storage for six rods on the side of the console, an aerated 26-gal stern livewell, and a Jet Wash® washdown system.

For cruising and family fun, swim-up stern seating will be a welcome addition to the 222FSH. At anchor, two removable seats can be attached just below the water's surface to create comfortable in-water seating facing the transom. Since the reboarding ladder is located between both seats, egress onto the swim platform is simple and without obstruction. Mounts for optional swim-up seats are also standard.
